Frequently Asked
Questions
Question:
yes, Help !!! I am a mom of 3 and a "craftaholic" I have craft stuff
in virtually every room of my home plus the garage... Where do I begin
to organize this stuff?
Answer:
Excellent question! Here's some tips on where to begin and some "How
to's":
-
Plan
a morning, or a few hours in a row when you'll get this project
done. Schedule it in your calendar like you would any other appointment.
Make sure you have coverage for the kids-a babysitter or even better,
playdates out of the house.
-
Bring
all the craft materials together in one open space-use the outdoors
if necessary!
-
Group "likes" together. For example, all ribbon together, all pom-poms
together-you get the idea. Try grouping them by type, rather than
color-it's easier to put things into a few large categories instead
of a lot of little categories.
-
Evaluate how you use each grouping. Do you use some of them just
for school, or just for holidays?
-
And
where do you do your crafts? In just one area or in more than one
area? Is there storage in that area? Are there other things in that
area that can be relocated elsewhere? Do you have one area that
can be created for storage of all items?
-
After
you've answered the questions above, think about who will move the
crafts from the storage area to the "doing/creating" area; You or
the kids?
-
Now
you can think about the type of containers you need. Don't make
the common mistake of buying containers first, before you categorize-you
need to see what you have before you think of how to store it.
-
Label
each container clearly!
And FYI, B. Organized!
is adding some large containers to the website in the next week or
two-some of them are on wheels to make it easy for the kids to use-check
your e-mail for updates!
Thanks for getting
in touch with us-good luck with organizing your crafts and let us
know how you do!

Question:
I need to find an organizer near me.
Answer:
The best way to find an organizer near you would be to call the
National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO): (512)454-8626
or by fax ((512)454-3036 and they can give you some names of organizers
in your area. You can also try the yellow pages or telephone information
if the service isn't listed in the business section.
Good luck and happy organizing!
Sincerely,
Jody Berman
